Hi Nathan and Denis, thanks for your quick replies, it helped me solving the problem!
I am not sure if this is the right way, but now it works out the following way: - in Qt4, I kept the ComboBox to be editable - in QGIS, I changed the field properties to "Value Map" (this is a little bothering however, as I have to specify the value-description list first) @Nathan: not even the "QLineEdit completer" was working, i.e. I input a new value that was already existing in the column, but there was no auto-completion, just blank.
