After some investigations with Process Monitor, we discovered that QGIS 2.2, during the operation of adding a WMS Layer, is querying continuously the file "srs.db". How did we discover it? - with QGIS installed on local hard drive, adding a WMS layer is instantaneous; - with QGIS installed on a network samba folder, adding a WMS is very slow because it is repeatedly accessing the srs.db file (hundred times!). The problem doesn't occur with QGIS 2.0. Maybe the SRS caching code is changed?
