If it is current canvas state that you want to copy, you can use "Project/Save as Image" to save the current canvas-view to a png/gif whatever, which can then be copied into your email. Use my favourite plugin from Boris: http://plugins.qgis.org/plugins/NewMemoryLayer/ activating this one, gives you a 'create new memory layer' in your Layer menu, where you can then choose point/line/polygon and it will appear as a layer into your map, and edit with the normal tools. You can style it as every other layer. There is another plugin to save the memory layer into the project file.
