Thanks again Bas for explaining. I changed debian/control according to
your suggestion, and now compilation is running. Should the change be
pushed, or does interfere with other versions?
The change is already included in QGIS (but may be not backported to 2.8
yet).
To support building with both the GSL 1.x & 2.x the dependency to use
is:
libgsl-dev | libgsl0-dev
This prefers the new package over the old, using the latter only when
the former is not available.
