Hi all, This is more of an issue with gdal/osgeo4w installer than QGIS. But there is an inconsistency how netcdf4 files are being handled in Windows/Linux from QGIS users' point of view.
Here is a ticket related to the issue: https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo4w/ticket/293 and SE discussion: http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/179132/gdal-nc-rasters-opened-as-netcdf-network-common-data-format-under-linux-an I guess this will be resolved if a newer version of netcdf is shipped with QGIS.
