Marco,
I get many crashes of QGIS 1.0 preview
with WINXP SP2, most of them a bit erratic. One
that always happens is when I use the Scale Bar plugin.
I seldom use Windows now and virtually never for
QGIS, so I do not know if this is also the case
for previous versions.
I there any way I can get output to a console under Win so
that I can provide some useful information to
fix problems? or any other way of providing info about
the crashes?

For Windows, I created it one week ago:
