Hello Ricardo, hi all maybe my 5 cents are not solving the problem, but I have tested creating centroids with fTools (menu bar: tools>geometry tools>polygon centroids) - it works fine and quickly (tested in 1.0.2 and 1.1.0 v ). It is a core plugin.
