I cannot help you, but the safest bet I think is to file a ticket (with
a good description like in your mail) in trac
(https://trac.osgeo.org/qgis/), make some example data for this issues,
and make it available via trac also.
This makes it easier for developers to reproduce your issue and dive
into it.
Though it is possible that your description already rings a bell with
one of the developers...?
