Thanks for the responses on how to match to points, however they raised a second problem which might be a bug in qgis or at least need a work around. That is, when I tried to find 'point sampling tool' it was not there and when I tried to install it the repository was unavailable and when I tried a manual download and install it would not work, see some details of correspondence about this below.

Best you test/ask for proxies and ask again on the ml, because I use qgis 1.3 on linux so probably cannot not reproduce. sorry Otto > -----Original Message----- > From: Otto Dassau [mailto:otto.das...@gmx.de] > Sent: 02 December 2009 12:02 > To: M.E.Dodd > Subject: Re: [Qgis-user] DEM matching to points > > Hi, > > in the fetch python plugins dialog, have you clicked on add 3rd party > repositories in the repository tab? > > Otto > > On Wed, 2 Dec 2009 11:59:45 +0000 > M.E.Dodd <m.e.d...@open.ac.uk> wrote: > > > Thanks, I'd tried that but could not see it on the list there either, I > also noticed that it said that the official qgis repository was not available > and don't have any 3rd party repositories.
