I am interested in applying the theory described in the linked article to a satellite image. http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/download?doi=10.1.1.140.5218&rep=rep1&type=pdf My goal is to depict hot spots on the earth surface. My problem is I am not very mathematically inclined and I don't program from sctratch well either.
I understand that I need to convert the values in the band I am interested in (band 7). I am interested in band 7 because the values in th shortwave IR I am interested in are sharp spikes running around 100DN higher than anything else in the image. So they are visible in daytime on this band. I am not sure about the values in band 7. What I need to convert from? I believe I need to use Planck's radiation equation. The document I have linked to goes way over my head. I have a good assortment of software at my disposal to accomplish this once I understand what I need to do. Qgis may or may not be the tool to do this with. I appreciate any direction or help with this project. Brad
