My experience with 1.7 has been good and really bad. I really like the new features, especially the ability to switch between Old and New Symbology. The trouble started with Print Composer. First, it was Legend issues (a white band appears at the top of the Legend, extending to the top of the Composer). After a bit of troubleshooting (I switched off all the layers in Map View and switched them on again, one at the time), the Legend was almost working again (but really slow). The 'white band' would only be present if certain layers were added to the Map View. Secondly, and the most critical issue, is that QGIS crashes when I save the Print Composer as an Image (tiff). 'Save as PDF' works fine. So, after a few crashes yesterday, I re-installed 1.6 and I am happy again. Funny thing is, a few months back, before 1.7 stable was announced, I had both 1.6 and qgis-dev working fine. Hopefully I'll spend a bit more time troubleshooting the 1.7 issues.
