Hi Rudi! I had the same issue using ASTER Data some days ago. It should also work in the WGS84 projection by using the GDAL based DEM utilities. Just use the slope analysis and put a hook on the checkbox with "use percent slope (instead of degrees)"
And be sure to save the output in the same folder as your original DEM. Let me know how it worked out!
