Hi Pietro,
I think the issue is with your user dir, not with the installation.
In case you don't know where to look, its:
C:\Documents&Steiings\<username>\.qgis on Windows XP
C:\users\<username>\.qgis on Windows 7
Just delete or rename the directory *before* installation.
