Closed as invalid.

I've got fresh installs of QGIS with this same rendering issue. I think this 
ticket needs to be re-opened.

Note 10 in that ticket (http://hub.qgis.org/issues/8231#note-10) describes:

"The problem only occurs when the "Improved Polygon Capturing " plug-in is 
enabled in the 32-bit version and there are PostGIS layers in the document - a 
fairly unique situation, which explains why it wasn't occurring for you. We 
will simply disable this plugin when not being used, and your help 
troubleshooting is much appreciated. Hopefully this plugin can be fixed by its 
creator so other users don't have the same issue. Thanks again!"

But I'm not sure if that's the cause. I've been sporting spatialite for a while 
now =)
