Dear QGIS Users --

I am a bit clueless about the "Set Target Resolution"
option in the Raster Georeferencer.

The online help is somewhat vague about this:
"... define the pixel resolution of the output raster."

Does this refer to a pixel scaling factor or
"pixels per unit (of what?)" in the output?

I am speculating that this option exists so that
one can produce a result raster with a lower
resolution (which can e.g. be useful if the source
image is a scanned map with excessively high DPI).
In this case, "target resolution" would be the
proportion of "input pixel:output pixel", and
useful settings IMO would be integer numbers >= 1
(or <= -1 for vertical image resolution). But
the UI allows input of floating point numbers,
so I remain confused.

Thanks very much for sharing any clues on this!

Best regards,

Benjamin
