You may try the ubuntugis unstable ppa, instead of the ubuntugis
(stable) ppa.
I suggest to install in a terminal, not with the Ubuntu software
center. You need to update your packages list first, then install the
dependent GDAL packages.
BTW why "trusty partner"?
I don't think there is a partner branch of the ubuntugis repository, it
should be set as main
