QGIS can help you calculate these information automatically, without using the Measure tool and report its values manually. Use the $area or $perimeter/$length functions from the field calculator (see doc at http://docs.qgis.org/2.18/en/docs/user_manual/working_with_vector/attribute_table.html#field-calculator). Matthias answer uses these functions automatically at creation but you can process the calculation any time, in one-click.
