This is a great idea if she is on Windows. Right click on the folder and select previous versions. Then just selectively drag and drop files from that restored folder.

Windows has a feature called previous versions. Locate the shape files on explorer, look for the dbf file, right click, properties and see if you have any previous versions that you can restore.
