Hi, It may be the difference is between QGIS 3.14 and 3.16, as the Mac packaging method changed in 3.16 and there are a few residual problems that are fixed in 3.16.1 (hopefully out today). I'd test it first with 3.14 on Big Sur before downgrading to Catalina.
