Not as elegant as Nicolas' explanation using the _expression_ builder, you can always just open the attribute table and sort on the attribute you're searching on. You can then easily find the value you're looking for and select the row. The associated parcel will now highlight on your canvas and you can also zoom to selection. This only works if you're searching on a single attribute at the time - eg, all parcels owned by some person.
