Are you sure?
I guess that either or both the ESRI Shapefile vector layer or/and the
GeoTIFF raster layer may have an incorrect / incomplete / not recognised
by GDAL or PROJ CRS definition.
If the error messages are displayed also execute the same GDAL command
in the OSGeo4W Shell, then the issue is not due to QGIS itself.
