Hi

You should be able to do something like this (untested estimate based
on C++ api and sip definition file):

myLayer.setLabelOn(true);
QgsLabel myLabel = myLayer.label(),
myLabel.setLabelField( QgsLabel.Angle,  fieldIndex);
