Most important is the bare text after <body>
That is what gets picked up in -all- my web site mentions, not the META
tags (even 'description' seems ignored). I gather robots mainly ignore
those now, as people were putting really stupid ones with a vast number
of words.

It is vital to look at the <body> text from the start and make sure say
the first 25 words make sense.

For instance Google has:

"TF Services. Sinclair QL support. Tony Firshman's Home Page. December
5, 2004.
This page holds details of/links to current TF Services ... "

from:
------------------------------------------------
<body>
<h1 align="center"><font color="#008000"><strong>TF
Services</strong></font></h1>

<h1 align="center"><font color="#008000"><strong>Sinclair QL
support</strong></font></h1>

<p align="center"><font color="#008000"><strong><img src="ql.gif"
width="494" height="106"></strong></font></p>

<h2 align="center"><font color="#008000"><strong>Tony Firshman's
Home Page</strong></font></h2>

<hr>

<p><strong>
  December 5, 2004
</strong></p>

<p>This page holds details of/links to current TF Services
products and services, and latest support files. </p>
-----------------------------------------

It ignored:

<meta name="description"
content="Tony Firshman's (TF Services) product and support for the
Sinclair QL">
<title>TF Services Home Page</title>
