_psa and _pic files have only one mode, rather like a sprite. But sprites of other modes can be linked together, each sprite having a specific item for this purpose. Although it is not defined in the QPTR manual, it would be possible (and useful) to link together _psa, but not _pic, files of different modes using the first long word. I must try this!
