Does anyone have the correct lead to connect a QL to a Phillips 8833
monitor - it has a scart like socket and an 8 pin din on the back.
Unfortunately, the standard QL monitor lead only has a 6 pin din on the
monitor end...
Connecting the QL directly to the 8-pin din will not work.
The plug is based on the 270 degree 3-pin din, with added pins, so the
numbering is a bit odd but should be on the plug itself:
4 2 5
1 8 3
6 ^ 7
4= blue, 2= red, 5= intensity (?),
1= n.c., 8= vertical sync, 3= green
6= ground, 7= horizontal sync
In my notes I found that blue gave yellow on white, red gave cyan and
green gave magenta.
VS & HS both connected gave a sync distortion, probably just VS will do.
So it may need some signal conversion to work.
I use the scart connection myself (input II), through a small box where I
added some resistors.
7= blue, 11= green, 15= red, 20= video-in, used for vertical sync through
a 1K resistor.
Also the RGB switch at the back should be pressed.
Each colour is fed through a 330 Ohm resistor (could be 220) and connected
to ground with 75 Ohm to pin 17.
The monitor was used for my Spectrum so predates the QL/SGC it's connected
to now but is still working well.
I can scan the manual and schematics if you want it.
