Morning Per,
I think the first thing we need to do is get a correct directory structure and possibly a fill listing of what we have, and where it should be. Once we have that, we need to update Wolfgang's source CD so that it is in the correct order - possibly on a QXL.WIN file. The current zip files are full of absolute file names - win1_u$$_dv3_ee_xxxxxxxx etc, rather than a relative path name - which is a shame. Then we can start messing around as we all have a common starting point, file names, tree structure etc. Cheers, Norman. ------------------------------------- Norman Dunbar Database/Unix administrator Lynx Financial Systems Ltd. mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Tel: 0113 289 6265 Fax: 0113 289 3146 URL: http://www.Lynx-FS.com ------------------------------------- -----Original Message----- From: P Witte [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, June 27, 2002 11:40 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [ql-users] SMSQ Source... The sources dont appear to be quite complete. Either they contain too many files or to few, as there are unresolvable references. I suspect the first great challenge for the uninitiated will be to get them into shape. I can just imagine 50 individuals poring over the sources, all beavering away at re-inventing the same wheel in their own way... For part-timers like me some kind of order would be quite useful so I could worry about the bits I could do something with and forget about the rest. Anything from cross-referencing to utilities to build, update and archive it all would be a great help here. Ideally, there should be no need to rely on commercial, restricted or non-QL utilities to build any particular version of SMSQ/E or read the files or documentation, as is currently the case. There is scope for any interested party to contribute here, from Quill users to kernel hackers. None of this is intended as a slur on the beautiful treasure weve got. I think it is a wonder to behold! The question is: What now? Per This email is intended only for the use of the addressees named above and may be confidential or legally privileged.
