None of the drivers has been ported to Win32:

Umm, sorry.  Should read the docs first!  And I never assumed the situation on 
Win would be *worse* than on Mac OS X... ;-)

The mess with FWTools is really annoying. The plan is to bundle GDAL with the 
QLGT installer directly in the future. It's on my task stack, I even installed 
the new GDAL binaries, but somehow my real life work keeps me from preparing 
all the necessary stuff to migrate away from FWTools.

I think having all this stuff in a separate package is not a bad idea (something 
like the OS X Helpers & Libs) as it keeps the more frequently changing QLGT 
package smaller, but it should be installed in a folder which is searched 
automatically.  No idea if that is possible with Win (the win system folder is 
probably a bad idea, and iirc it doesn't work with win7); the situation on UNIX'es 
where we have /usr/local is definitely a lot easier!
