Hi Oliver:

This is related to the OS X perspective: users expect *all* preferences in the
preferences menu, which is *always* in the application menu. And, as I said,
the menubar is somewhat 'crowded'. I attach a screen shot of my 1280x1024
screen running OS X 10.4, with my patch. Imagine an extra menu entry there...
[i.e., in short, my answer to your question would be 'no' ;-)]

I see, that's a good point. What about adding a button in the tool bar, next
to the grid check box, as to open a transient (OS X: drawer) dialogue for
defining the grid? That would save the menu entry *and* provide even faster
and more intuitive access to the settings (as the user doesn't need to move the
mouse from the lower to the upper rim of the screen). I'll provide a proposal
for that, stay tuned...

I don't want to start a flame war on that :-)... Basically, everyone has
different philosophy on that (OS X in the app menu, Gnome as a sub-menu of
Edit, kde as a separate menu, no idea about Winbloze). The current
implementation is just fine for me!

Yes, and IMHO it's would even be more important (but also somewhat complicated)
to pre-set the widgets in the wizard with the current settings. I.e. select
something, close the dialogue, re-open it, and the buttons matching the setup
are selected.

And maybe I'm too dumb, but the wizard never produces the '+datum=WGS84', but
always something else.

An other (and probably even more ambitious) point would be a parser to validate
if the entered definition is actually valid.

Cheers,
Albrecht.
