Hello,

I've compiled and used Qlandkarte under Ubuntu 10.04 with no problems but
under Ubuntu 12.04 beta-2, it has compiled correctly but I can only
upload/download data if I run Qlandkarte as root. So my problem sound like
the following from the troubleshooting faq:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/qlandkartegt/index.php?title=FAQ#Everything_compiled_right_on_Linux_but_I_can_not_access_the_Garmin_device

I've followed the advice found there but I still can't access the USB port
as a regular user, only as root. The faq recommends adding the following
line to/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist:

# stop garmin_gps serial from loading for USB garmin devices
blacklist garmin_gps

In Ubuntu 12.04, there is not blacklist file, it's been replaced by
blacklist.conf and it already contains the lines:

# most apps now use garmin usb driver directly (Ubuntu: #114565)
blacklist garmin_gps

I did try creating a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist file with the text, that had
no effect as can be expected.

I also created a file /etc/udev/rules.d/51-garmin.rules with contents:

SYSFS{idVendor}=="091e", SYSFS{idProduct}=="0003", MODE="666"

This also had no effect. What next?

An "lsusb" command shows my device (a Garmin legend hcx) is recognized:

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 002: ID 046d:c040 Logitech, Inc. Corded Tilt-Wheel Mouse
Bus 003 Device 003: ID 091e:0003 Garmin International GPS (various models)

Any suggestions on how to solve this?
