Weird.  Can you try to run QLGT on both boxes with debugging output enabled, 
i.e. run from the terminal

/Applications/QLandkarte\ GT.app/Contents/MacOS/QLandkarte\ GT -debug

(or wherever you installed it) and check if the outputs gives more information?

The message might indicate that there is an issue with one of the libs, 
probably gdal.  You could check if the binary depends on the proper libs, i.e. 
run

otool -L /Applications/QLandkarte\ GT.app/Contents/MacOS/QLandkarte\ GT

and check if it uses the proper versions.  You could also try to run gdal from 
the terminal directly on the file to check if there is a problem.
