yes that will give you a build environment. But the URL for the svn repository 
is not correct anymore. For Jan's code this should be:

svn checkout 
svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/qlandkartegt/code/QLandkarteGT/branches/distribunet/ 
qlandkartegt_dist

Thanks for your reply!  I might be a little stubborn but I wouldn't mind giving 
the branch by Jan a try.  Where can I find this branch?  Can I assume these 
(http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/qlandkartegt/index.php?title=Compiling_QLandkarte_GT_on_Kubuntu)
 directions will get me a build environment that I can use on a kubuntu 12.10 
install?
 
I appreciate your time, and don't want to take too much of your free time 
supporting me on this endeavour.
