Just try it ;) If you exchange data via "Garmin Mass Storage" and F9/F10 QLGT will do some things that I do consider as quite nice:
1) It will add a unique ID to each item (track, waypoint, etc.) Thus if you read back the stuff it is recognized by QLGT and no second instance is created. This does not apply to elements created on the device, as they lack the ID. 2) For waypoints and geocaches attached pictures are handled properly. Especially for geocaches you do not want to handle the target path by hand. 3) It helps you to organize your data properly on the device. Instead of sneezing all into one single file it separates items and organizes the files in subfolders. That might not be your way to organize data, but it's definitely my way to organize data ;) And I think it's well enough to know what data is on the device and how to delete it by project. 4) I own several devices of different brands. Each of them is a bit different and has it's own issues and itches to scratch. Using the exchange via F9/F10 hides all that from me. I press F9 and know everything is fine as long as I unmount the device properly. There is nothing wrong in ignoring all that. If you do I recommend to use "File->Export Geo Data" instead of "File->Save Geo Data" as the export will create GPX files with less extensions to upset the devices. Oliver > Gesendet: Freitag, 12.
