See <http://sourceforge.net/p/qlandkartegt/mailman/message/32012696/>.

I appreciate that the source code is available, but how about making it easy
for the normal user?

Of course, you are also free to distribute a modified binary version, according to sect. 6 of
the GPL v3: "You may convey a covered work in object code form under the terms of sections
4 and 5, provided that you also convey the machine-readable Corresponding Source under the
terms of this License [...]" (see <http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl.html>). I.e.
basically you have to pack the binary and your patches together into a rpm/zip/deb/dmg/whatever
package.

For me this is a "political" issue, though. IMHO, the OSM people's claims are
reasonable, they are in accordance with RFC 2616, and as they are offering encrypted
connections with Perfect Forward Secrecy it would be possible to dramatically improve the
privacy of users. However, Oliver bluntly rejects this, without giving any (in my
opinion) comprehensible rationale. This all has been discussed in depth.

After supporting the project for more than 6 years, I have the deepest respect
for Oliver's work, so I don't think it would be fair if I would provide a
patched Mac OS X binary. I think he is completely wrong, but I respect his
opinions. But likewise I will not package a software which expels users from
the best possible privacy, in particular if it can easily be achieved. Thus, I
*strongly* recommend to build the package from source, where everyone has the
option to choose.

Best, Albrecht.
