Dear All, The same problem here, after upgrade to 14.04 LTS.
Which version of distro do I have? maciej@gucek2:~$ lsb_release -d Description: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS How the problem occurs? maciej@gucek2:~$ qlandkartegt qlandkartegt: error while loading shared libraries: libgdal1.7.0.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory To which packet belongs libgdal1.7.0.so.1? maciej@gucek2:~$ apt-file update maciej@gucek2:~$ apt-file search libgdal1.7.0.so.1 <no_response> Next I tried to manually remove qlandkartegt and check if every file was successfully removed: maciej@gucek2:~$ sudo apt-get remove qlandkartegt (...) maciej@gucek2:~$ whereis qlandkartegt qlandkartegt: /usr/lib/qlandkartegt /usr/local/bin/qlandkartegt /usr/local/lib/qlandkartegt So I manually moved the specified files or folders to another location, just in case of next problems. Clear the Package Cache, to be sure that new fie package will be downloaded: maciej@gucek2:~$ sudo apt-get clean Next attempt to install qlandkartegt: maciej@gucek2:~$ sudo apt-get install qlandkartegt Installation: maciej@gucek2:~$ sudo apt-get install qlandkartegt Another attempt to run application: maciej@gucek2:~$ qlandkartegt bash: /usr/local/bin/qlandkartegt: Specified file or folder doesn't exist. aciej@gucek2:~$ whereis qlandkartegt qlandkartegt: /usr/bin/qlandkartegt /usr/bin/X11/qlandkartegt /usr/share/qlandkartegt /usr/share/man/man1/qlandkartegt.1.gz maciej@gucek2:~$ cd /usr/bin/ maciej@gucek2:/usr/bin$ ./qlandkartegt It works! Problem solved. It seems that because I've had older installation from ppa respository, after system upgrade something went wrong: some packages were mixed. Unfortunately I'm not enough familiar with package management to provide more reasonable answer.
