Hi Franklin,

digging in my brain I can recall 2 things:

1) The sync up sequence was kind of a PITA. On my 60scx it was no problem but 
on several other eTrex units it was. Sometimes the sequence had to be sent 
twice to work. I can't tell why and if that would help with your problem. If 
you want to try it you would need to compile the code on your own.

2) The is an old legacy version of libusb. There is the current version of 
libusb. And there is a compatibility layer in the new libusb to be used by 
software that is using the old API. I noticed that this layer does not work for 
GarminDev. Reason unknown. The only working solution is to link against the old 
legacy version. I can't tell what is used by the binary packages.
