The problem is how projections are defined. When coding QLGT I used the long
form like "+proj=.......". But
today I make a lot of more use of the short form "+init=epsg:...". However with
the EPSG thing Proj4 needs
those translation tables. Some distributions separate those files from the
library installation. Probably
because they think it's development stuff like header files.
