Hi Stefano

GDAL is the library used to read raster maps. Probably it has been uninstalled 
for some reason. 
Usually the installation of QLGT and GDAL have to match as GDAL is not ABI 
stable. In other words if 
you mix versions you might get peculiar behavior.
