can you estimate how long it takes until this update will trickle down
to debian stable (currently jessie) backports?

here I see
https://packages.debian.org/search?keywords=qmapshack

that 1.6.2 is already in SID, but backports is still on 1.6.1-2

I'd prefer not stay within debian dependency management as long as
possible.
