the native GUI language in the code is English. Thus without any translation 
everything should be English.

On startup the application tries to query the language of the OS and tries to 
find a matching translation file. This is done by the locale specifier like 
it_IT or de_DE.

As QLGT has not been maintained for several years it is possible that for the 
OS X support something changed. But I know next to nothing about OS X. Best you 
compare the localization code in QMapShack with QLGT. In QMapShack the stuff is 
done in CAppSetupMac::initQMapShack().

I asked Ivo for the QMapTool installation. But received no feedback yet.
