Hi Karl,

Nearly a year ago I needed printed maps aswell and I coded something to follow a track, however it never really worked perfectly. I used it nevertheless to print the maps and used them until a rainy day came where I was tired of always shielding them from the rain when swapping the view. From that point on I used the GPS, since I figured that I have enough batteries for it to last until the end of the trip :D Back to your question, if you are able to compile QMS yourself, I could try to rebase the old code onto the current one and you could take a look if it useful to you. (For the moment I won't be developing that code actively though, sorry!)

On the same occasion printing had a higher quality for me when I printed from Ubuntu instead of Windows. But that may be because of some virtual printer settings I got wrong.

I could print the maps on a 600dpi laser-printer with 100g/m² paper and those maps survived those raindrops I couldn't shield away pretty well. Maybe you can get access to a similar printer in a copyshop?

I hope I could help!

Hello all,

I need help around maps.

I am just working on an enhancement for printing my bicycle tracks. My basic Idea is that the paper sheets are following the track, so that the track is best fitted in the pages and the consumption of paper is on an acceptable level.

I know, many of you are on "digital only mode" and not using paper any more.  :-) Maybe I am a bit old-fashioned. I like it to have a bit paper on my handlebar-bag when traveling with my touring bike in unknown regions.

When printing the map and track on my Inkjet printer the quality on the paper is a bit poor.

I am not an expert around maps, but I am assume we have some experts here.

What kind of possibilities do we have to increase the printing quality in QMS?
Maps in higher DPIs, high-quality, retina?
Any free maps with high quality available?
Using a specific regular map?
Other tipps and tricks?

All information are welcome.

Thanks.
