 Your whole plan sounds pretty much like my implementation, except that
I use Courier IMAP. Courier supports LDAP authentication and virtual
users, and is much better than Cyrus IMHO. For implementation specifics,
read http://www.lifewithqmail.org/ldap .

 Also, you can let people at remote locations use their local mail
server as smtp and the message will get passed via qmqp to the main mail
server for outgoing mail. If you have any .qmail files that also pipe to
scripts, or ezmlm lists, you will need to put them in LDAP as well.
