email address contains illegal characters

        I need to send an email to sub*t-l@mydomain. I can do it with qmail
without the patch for LDAP, but with the patch I received a "failure
notice":

<sub*t-l@mydomain>:
Receipient email address contains illegal characters.


        I search the last line above in *.c and I found it in qmail-lspawn.c:

qmail-lspawn.c:263:         substdio_puts(ss, "DReceipient email address
contains illegal characters.\n");

        I don't know how to programming C enough. So how can I do qmail (with
patch for LDAP) working with the e-mail address sub*t-l@mydomain?
