With a bit of fiddling around I have narrowed this down to the
"softlimit" command that is being used start up qmail-smtpd. Does anyone
know what softlimit is supposed to do?
I have a found a footnote in the Life With Qmail main FAQ which mentions
that if this causes problems you should raise this limit, but it seems
really arbitrary advice. What does softlimit do in the first place? Can
it be left out completely?
