I've just finished installing qmail-ldap. I went through the Life with qmail
and Life with qmail-ldap in great detail to do my best and make sure
everything is setup right. It's a pretty default install - nothing fancy yet.
I'm using the startup script from Life with qmail section 2.8.2.1. When I
execute the script:

/etc/init.d/qmail start

And then look in the log /var/log/qmail/current, it repeats about every
second with

alert: cannot start qmail-lspawn or it had an error! Check if
~control/ldapserver exists.

Of course, I checked for the indicated file and it exists. I had "localhost"
in the file, but now I have my fqdn and still, the same error. I'm not sure
where else to look... this seems to be the only thing logged.

The following processes are shown from a ps matching "qmail":

[root@metis control]# ps -ef | grep qmail
root 29222 736 0 22:12 ? 00:00:00 supervise qmail-send
root 29317 736 3 22:12 ? 00:00:45 supervise qmail-smptd
root 4489 736 0 22:14 ? 00:00:03 supervise qmail-send
qmaill 4492 4490 0 22:14 ? 00:00:00 /usr/local/bin/multilog t
/var/lroot 6843 736 0 22:14 ? 00:00:09 supervise qmail-smtpd
qmaill 6852 6844 0 22:14 ? 00:00:00 /usr/local/bin/multilog t
/var/lqmailr 24984 1 0 22:34 ? 00:00:00 qmail-start ./Maildir/
qmailq 24985 1 0 22:34 ? 00:00:00 qmail-clean
root 24988 27225 0 22:34 pts/4 00:00:00 grep qmail

Any ideas? Any other info I can post? This is my first attempt at qmail-ldap,
so I'm not really sure where to look for stuff...

Thanks,

-Eric
