seems i solved my problem with strace..

root@komodo:/# ps aux | grep qmail
------------8<------------< snip <------------8<------------
qmaild 17662 0.0 0.0 2096 752 pts/0 S 02:39 0:00
/usr/bin/tcpserver -u 64011 -g 65534 -c 400 -x /etc/tcp.smtp.cdb
196.30.168.102 smtp strace /usr/sbin/qmail-smtpd
------------8<------------< snip <------------8<------------

qmail-smtpd runs as qmaild.. is this ok ? i'm just using the debian scripts.

but,
qmaild:x:64011:65534:qmail daemon,,,:/var/qmail:/bin/sh

qmaild is not in the qmail group by default.

so..

is this a workable solution ?
