ok. This is a good start. Assuming that OpenLDAP's client library is 
satisfactory, and focusing just on the server-side, how would you go 
about designing a new ldap server?

I have some ideas on this, but I'm really interested in hearing someone 
else's ideas first.

And if this is no longer the proper forum for this discussion, I suggest 
we either start a new mailing list somewhere or start a sourceforge 
project. (in which case, it's all about the name...)
