How closely did you review the Courier-IMAP documentation/configuration
file?

LDAP_MAIL               mail

Set that as I've set it (to mail, in other words) and it works great.
Then the user can use [EMAIL PROTECTED] for their username. If you have a
primary domain, you can set that in the config file too, so that it
automatically appends it to the end of usernames provided without domains.
