Yopu could also use the digest tool of qmail-ldap. Will give you MD4 MD5 SHA and RMD160 hashes. The hashes generated by md5 or md5sum are hex values whereas openldap and qmail-ldap expects base64 encoded hashes. You could translate them by writing a script that converts hex to base64.
