I use Iplanet directory server 4.17, we originally used iplanet mail server as well but that was junk. So I think maybe most of the settings for email were added to the iplanet schema by the install of the iplanet mail server.
I was able to add all of the qmail schema entries using the iplanet gui. I am going to move this to openLDAP when I get some time. I thought openldap was supposed to be slower, but I am able to run ~300 queries a second on the OPENLDAP server and only ~60 on the iplanet server, using identical hardware.
