I have spoken to our users and lower admin staff to find out what we need. We need to be able to do wildcard searches on these fields : cn,sn,mail, uid, mailAlternateAddress and mailForwardAddress This is because we use the LDAP as an address book, and use LAST ( http://sysadminsith.org/software/last/ ) for admin work. So here is are my proposed indexes : index cn pres,eq,sub index sn pres,eq,sub index mail eq,sub index uid eq, pres index mailAlternateAddress eq, sub index mailForwardAddress eq, sub index objectClass eq Which you will notice is actually larger than the original.... Could it be running slow when sending mail to all users because I am not indexing mailForwardingAddress at the moment, and my mailing lists are users set to forwardonly with loads of mail forwarding addresses? -- Thanks Andrew McCall Internet System Administrator I.C.T.
